The International Photography Hall of Fame (IPHF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts and education organization dedicated to recognizing and celebrating extraordinary achievements in photography. Founded in 1965 and headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, IPHF is the premier institution for honoring photographers and preserving the legacy of this art form.

IPHF educates, inspires, and preserves the rich history of photography, celebrating it both as an art form and as a medium shaped by technological innovation. By highlighting photography’s past, IPHF fosters growth and innovation for future generations.

Annual Hall of Fame Induction & Awards Ceremony

Each year, IPHF presents the most prestigious honor in photography, induction to the International Photography Hall of Fame, to individuals and organizations chosen by a distinguished panel of expert jurors. This award is presented at the Annual Awards Ceremony, a major event celebrating the honorees and their contributions to photography. In addition to the Hall of Fame Inductees, IPHF honors photographers through the Leadership Award, Visionary Award, and Point of View Award. These awards celebrate diverse contributions to the field and play a key role in recognizing and elevating the next generation of photography leaders.

Recent honorees include photography legends such as: Eve Arnold, Sam Abell, James Balog, Harry Benson, David Burnett, Keith Carter, Paul Caponigro, Adger Cowans, Bruce Davidson, Steve McCurry, Annie Leibowitz, Lee Miller, Richard Misrach, Zanele Muholi, Martin Parr, Sally Mann, Vivian Maier, Sheila Metzner, Cindy Sherman, Stephen Shore, Carrie Mae Weems, andAnne Wilkes Tucker. Over 130 exceptional individuals have been honored by the Hall of Fame to date, showcasing the diversity and depth of photography’s impact across generations.

Educational Programs & Workshops

IPHF offers a variety of educational programs, including lectures, workshops and photography competitions, both in person and to an international community online. These programs foster both technical and creative growth in aspiring photographers while preserving the techniques and knowledge passed down by masters in the field.

The IPHF Photography Collection

IPHF holds a vast collection of historic and contemporary photographic works spanning the history of the medium. The collection is continually expanding as new inductees are celebrated and their works preserved for future generations.

IPHF invites returning Inductees and Awardees to participate and help advance the mission of the organization:

• Add your induction/award to professional platforms (CV, biography, website, Wikipedia, etc.).

• Return as a Guest MC for future Awards Ceremonies.

• Participate in the IPHF Legends of Photography online lecture series.

• Serve as a juror for future IPHF photography competitions.

• Share stories, articles, and news through IPHF channels.

• Update your Hall of Fame profile and share images of new work to be featured online.

• Co-sign a welcome letter to future Awardees/Inductees.

• Nominate others for the Hall of Fame and participate in the selection, voting, and induction process.

• Authorize IPHF to promote your public activities through the website and social media.
